I received a call about a cygnet covered in blood, in a small backwater in Tempsford. I ended up getting rather wet to retrieve it! The poor thing had lost the tip of its wing and was bleeding heavily. It spent the night with me where it had pain killers and the wound bandaged and was transferred to The Swan Sanctuary the next day for further treatment. The sanctuary thought it could possibly have been a dog attack. We urge people to try and keep dogs on lead or under control around wildlife, especially as we are approaching baby season.
